Embracing flexibility and adventure: Reyan’s story
For a family of five who are passionate about travel, exploration, and embracing new experiences, a traditional school environment simply didn’t fit the lifestyle they envisioned. Originally from Singapore, the family spends their time living and learning around the globe.
Reyan’s parents have always looked to expand their horizons both individually and as a family. Their children, aged 11, 8, and 2, are eager learners. Reyan, the second of the three children, and his brother Dev are both enrolled at King’s InterHigh, which offers the flexibility their adventurous lifestyle demands. When it comes to their interests, the family’s curiosity knows no bounds.
“Our interests range from outdoor adventures to cooking, with a particular focus on cultural exploration and staying active. We enjoy meeting new people, trying different foods, and learning about the local customs of each place we visit and most definitely always saying yes to experiences and adventure!”
Choosing online schooling and King’s InterHigh
The decision to embrace online schooling came when the family realised that the traditional schooling system simply didn’t support their nomadic lifestyle. “We decided on online schooling to offer more flexibility and freedom as we are often on the move,” they explain. “The traditional schooling system didn’t allow for our desired lifestyle to experience new cultures and locations while ensuring our children receive a consistent, high-quality education.”
When the family began searching for an online school, King’s InterHigh quickly rose to the top of their list. “We chose King’s InterHigh because of its reputation for providing a flexible, well-rounded British curriculum and live online lessons with teachers and classmates,” they share. “Their approach to personalised learning and strong support system for both students and parents made it an easy decision. Additionally, their ability to cater to students from all around the world was a significant advantage.”
It was clear that King’s InterHigh could offer the consistency and quality of education they were looking for, while aligning with the family’s commitment to travel and experience new cultures.
A very positive experience
Since enrolling, the family’s experience has been overwhelmingly positive. “Our experience with King’s InterHigh has been excellent,” they say. “The platform is user-friendly once you get the hang of it, and the teachers are highly engaged, patient and supportive. The subjects available and the curriculum align well with our expectations. It has allowed our children to have consistency in their learning while adapting to new environments on our travels.”
Reyan, in particular, has thrived in this flexible learning environment, where lessons fit seamlessly into the family’s ever-changing schedule.
Reyan’s favourite things about King’s InterHigh
Reyan’s enthusiasm for learning has grown significantly since joining King’s InterHigh. He particularly enjoys the interactive, live lessons. “Reyan loves the interactive, engaging format of the lessons,” his parents say. “He enjoys being able to participate in live classes and work at his own pace.”
Through this engaging format, Reyan has also discovered new passions. “Reyan has discovered that he enjoys making art in his Creative Media class, whereas he didn’t particularly feel so before. He loves Humanities as a subject as well,” his family adds. “He certainly is very motivated by the Rewards and Achievement Points system within King’s InterHigh.”
A British curriculum across the globe
One of the biggest advantages for the family has been the ability to continue learning without borders. “We have constantly been on the move across different countries/regions since enrolling, and the biggest advantage of enrolling in an online school like King’s InterHigh is the ability to access a world-class British education regardless of our location,” they reflect. “The British Curriculum is globally recognised, ensuring our children are receiving a consistent, high-quality education. Additionally, the ability to study at their own pace while experiencing different cultures adds a unique element to their learning.”
Whether in Singapore, Malaysia, the UK, Montenegro, or Croatia, Reyan and his family can continue their education journey from anywhere, seamlessly integrating their academic progress with their cultural experiences.
A global perspective for the future
The family’s plans for the future are rooted in providing their children with a global perspective, without compromising on their education. “Ultimately, we are focusing on providing our children with a broad global perspective while ensuring their education is not compromised by our current nomadic lifestyle as we continue to travel and experience different parts of the world,” they explain. With King’s InterHigh, they can ensure that their children receive a consistent and world-class education, regardless of where the family’s adventures take them next.
Advice to other families in Southeast Asia
For families in the Southeast Asia region who are considering online education, Reyan’s family offers some valuable advice. “We would highly recommend online education, especially if your circumstances require flexibility,” they share. “It allows you to prioritise both education and adventure, ensuring that your children can learn in a structured manner without missing out on life experiences. Just be sure to choose a platform that is supportive, flexible, and can cater to your child’s individual learning needs, as every child is different.”
The flexibility of the online school is perfect for families who are constantly on the move, ensuring children can continue their education in a way that fits their unique lifestyle.
