The majority of our IGCSEs follow Edexcel syllabuses. You can find all exam board details on our subject pages: https://kihstaging.newwave-web.co.uk/gcse-online/

Our Assured courses are certified by the world-respected board City & Guilds. These courses are not equivalent to GCSEs, but they do award students with a certificate upon completion. Like GCSEs, they also involve 120 guided learning hours.

Film Studies at King’s InterHigh is a UK GCSE, not an IGCSE. As such, students must be able to sit their final exam at an exam centre in the UK. The remaining 30% of the course will be assessed through a film or screenplay extract produced by the student.

Drama and Performance in Practice at King’s InterHigh is an Assured course, which means it does not count as a GCSE or IGCSE. This course is assessed through coursework and certified by City & Guilds, a highly respected awarding body.

Currently, we are unable to offer Drama as an IGCSE qualification as exam boards do not accept a remote substitute for the live performance component.

Key stage 1:
Years 1 and 2 – ages 5-7

Key stage 2:

Key stage 3:
Years 7 to 9 – ages 11-14

Key stage 4 – IGCSEs:

Students have 24/7 access to every lesson recording and various other useful resources, so they can catch up on their learning at a time that is most suitable for them. They can also view course materials and assignments (except expired tests) for the current year on our easy-to-navigate learning platform.

At King’s InterHigh, we offer International GCSEs, also known as IGCSEs. Like British GCSEs, IGCSEs are internationally respected two-year courses available in a wide array of subjects, setting a solid foundation for A Levels or the IB Diploma Programme.

However, there are some key differences between the two. IGCSEs can be studied anywhere in the world, and some IGCSE subjects include more globalised content. IGCSE exams are also available in three sessions per year (May to June, November, or January) to accommodate all students. All IGCSEs at King’s InterHigh are assessed entirely through examinations, and some subjects may be graded using the traditional ‘A* to G’ system (rather than the new ‘9 to 1’ scale).

We also offer two subjects as GCSEs: Film Studies and Psychology. Students must be able to take exams in a UK exam centre to study these subjects.

VAT charges explained

The UK Government has implemented a policy to charge VAT on independent schools taking effect from the 1st of January 2025. This VAT charge is payable by families who are based in, or access, King’s InterHigh from the UK. This change does not impact families who are based outside the UK and access King’s InterHigh from another country.

We understand the significant financial commitment you make in choosing our online school as well as how important it is to be able to financially plan. After careful review of the details of the legislation, we will support parents by absorbing costs ourselves, so that a slower phasing in of this unwelcome change reduces its financial impact on families.

For the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year (starting September 2024), Inspired Education Group will absorb much of the 20% VAT charge. For the Spring and Summer terms when the 20% VAT will now apply, we will only pass on 8.5% to families, taking up the difference ourselves.

To further support families with the financial implications of this change in government policy, for the 2025-2026 academic year (starting in September 2025) there will be no inflationary tuition fee increases, and that Inspired Education Group will continue to absorb costs to limit the increase to 8.5% for that academic year. Overall, this will mean we have phased in 17% of the 20% VAT cost over two years to avoid sudden increases for families and have not increased tuition fees.

King’s InterHigh is committed to offering competitive fees and accessible, high-quality independent education, along with the unique benefits of online learning. We are pleased that through careful cost control and the benefits of being part of Inspired, the leading global group of premium schools, we can significantly reduce the financial effect on families due to this change in UK VAT policy.

Technology integration fee
