No, King’s InterHigh is not classed as homeschooling. It is an online independent school that follows the internationally recognised British curriculum, with qualified teachers delivering live, interactive lessons.
Homeschooling typically means parents or guardians take full responsibility for their child’s education, including selecting and delivering the curriculum. In contrast, King’s InterHigh provides a structured school environment online, with set timetables, formal assessments, and teacher-led instruction—just like a traditional school, but in a digital setting.
However, home-educating families can use our school to support their teaching. For example, parents may choose King’s InterHigh for subjects they’re less confident teaching or to help their child prepare for exams. Our flexible approach, including 24/7 access to recorded lessons, allows homeschooling families to fit learning around their schedule while benefiting from expert teaching and a structured curriculum.
Yes, attendance is recorded at King’s InterHigh. As we value flexibility, we understand that students may sometimes need to learn at their own pace. However, live lesson attendance is monitored, and teachers keep track of engagement. These metrics are easily accessible on the Parent Portal.
At King’s InterHigh, we offer two types of classrooms to suit different learning styles. Explore lessons are interactive and have a maximum of 20 students, while Learn lessons follow a lecture-style format with 50+ students. While we don’t offer one-to-one classes, our small class sizes ensure personalised support.
No, we do not inform the local authority ourselves. You would need to inform the current school you were looking to home educate. On request we can send you a confirmation letter of enrolment so the LA can see the student is being educated elsewhere.
We do not have a uniform policy at King’s InterHigh. However, it is important students dress in a manner that is respectful and appropriate for school.
We understand that every student is different. Some students thrive with more interaction, while others prefer a quieter, less distracting environment. We’re committed to providing a personalised learning experience that works for each child.
To offer flexibility, we allow parents to choose the level of interaction that suits their child’s needs. These levels can be changed in the Student Hub:
We’ll continue to work closely with families to ensure every student feels engaged and supported.
We offer taster sessions throughout the year, so you can get a feel for lessons suited to your child’s age group. Be sure to check our open events page for details on any upcoming sessions.
Your child will have the opportunity to complete their Practical Endorsements for A Level science subjects during the Easter (spring) break. These may be held at one of our fellow Inspired schools. We will contact families regarding exact dates, times, and locations closer to the Easter break.
We offer a three-subject package for students in Years 3 to 11 (Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 4). Offered on an Annual Contract, this package option is ideal for families who choose to home educate.
While attendance in lessons is expected unless students are registered as Library Learners, we are proud to support all students with a need for flexibility. If students do miss a class, they’re free to catch up with 24/7 access to lesson recordings.
Please note that teachers will raise a concern if students are regularly absent from lessons.
Yes, students can email their class teacher or Senior Leader of Learning at any time. Teachers will reply according to their schedule and the urgency of the enquiry.
Yes, it is possible to study different subjects across different year groups. However, timetables may clash. If lesson clashes do occur, students can use lesson recordings to catch up.
King’s InterHigh offers a fully flexible approach to learning, so your child never has to miss out on any class.
All classes are recorded and uploaded for viewing at any time, 24/7. If learners miss a class, they’re free to watch the lesson recording at any time. Students can also email their teachers directly for additional guidance if needed. Our brilliant teachers are always happy to help.
Most subjects have three 40-minute lessons each week, adding up to around two hours per subject. The total number of lessons per week depends on how many subjects a student chooses. For example, if a student takes seven subjects, they’ll have about 21 lessons each week, or 4 to 5 lessons a day. On top of that, students also participate in tutor group sessions and can join optional exercise classes to stay active and have fun.
King’s InterHigh offers a flexible, supportive, high-quality education to students aged 7 to 19. It starts from Year 3 (age 7) and educates students all the way through to Year 13. The standard age ranges in each key stage are as follows:
Key stage 1:
Years 1 and 2 – ages 5-7
Key stage 2:
Years 3 to 6 – ages 7-11
Key stage 3:
Years 7 to 9 – ages 11-14
Key stage 4 – IGCSEs:
Years 10 and 11 – ages 14-16
Key stage 5 – A Levels and IB:
Year 12 and 13 – Ages 16-19
While it is possible for children to study some subjects at King’s InterHigh and the rest at a physical school, timetables may clash. For more guidance on your individual circumstances, please get in touch with our team here: https://kihstaging.newwave-web.co.uk/contact/
Yes, students who join us in the middle of a term will have access to previous learning materials, including lesson recordings. This will help them to catch up independently outside of timetabled lessons.
Students will need textbooks for certain subjects. A full book list is available through the parent portal, and most books are available through Amazon or other major online retailers.
Students in KS3-KS5 will take CEM baseline assessments, giving teachers a clear picture of each student’s potential in high-stakes exams. Teachers also regularly use formative assessments—like weekly quizzes—to keep track of progress. We also incorporate a dynamic blend of summative and formative checkpoints, tailored to each phase, ensuring that assessments are timely and relevant. Teachers use assignments at the end of every topic to dive deeper into understanding and gauge how well students have grasped the material.
This approach to assessment is designed to track progress in a way that’s both efficient and supportive, striking the right balance between challenge and support without overwhelming students. If a student falls behind or excels, teachers can quickly adjust the content to keep them on the right path, ensuring every learner gets the attention they need to thrive.
Yes, all our teachers are fully qualified subject specialists, with years of experience teaching the British Curriculum in traditional and online schools before joining King’s InterHigh. They are trained to deliver engaging online lessons and provide personalised support to help students succeed.
All our online lessons are taught live, and our subject-expert teachers leverage various interactive elements to keep students engaged. Students who attend classes according to their timetables can interact with their teachers and classmates through video, audio, and text. For the utmost flexibility, we also record every live lesson. These class recordings (along with lesson resources) are available to view at any time, 24/7, so students can revise at their own pace.
