If your child needs Special Consideration or Access Arrangements (like extra time or using a laptop) during exams, be sure to inform your chosen exam centre when booking. Each centre will have its own process for arranging these accommodations.

Students with dyslexia or learning difficulties will need to have an assessment with an educational psychologist or another approved specialist to determine the right support.

For students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, mental health needs, or medical conditions, it’s usually necessary to provide recent evidence (from within the past two years) from a consultant confirming the need for Access Arrangements.

We’re also happy to provide a statement about your child’s usual way of working to help support your request.

If you completed an AS-level qualification through Cambridge International or Edexcel International in the June 2024 exam series, you can carry that grade forward to contribute to your overall A Level grade in June 2025.

However, those grades cannot be carried forward if you sat your AS-level exams with a UK exam board like AQA, Edexcel, or OCR.

What happens next?

  • For AS Levels taken in June 2024: You’ll only need to sit two A Level exams per subject in June 2025. Your final A Level grade will be based solely on these two exams.
  • For AS Levels taken in October/November 2024: The same applies—just two A Level exams per subject in June 2025. However, in this case, your AS grade can also contribute to your final A Level result.
  • If you haven’t taken any AS Levels: You’ll need to take all four A Level exam papers per subject in June 2025.

For UK exam boards (AQA, OCR, and Edexcel):

It’s important to note that AS-level grades do not count towards your final A Level qualification, except for International Science qualifications offered by Edexcel. This applies even if exams were disrupted or cancelled.

If formal exams are cancelled, don’t worry—your child will still need exam entries for each subject to receive a grade, so you won’t need to cancel your booking.

If you do decide to withdraw your child’s entry, you may be eligible for a full or partial refund, depending on your centre’s policies. We’ll make sure to keep you informed throughout the process.

Exam centres are available in most countries around the world. If there is no exam centre in your current country of residence, we will endeavour to help you find another suitable centre within travelling distance. International GCSEs can be taken in most countries using the Remote Invigilation Service.

Examination fees are not included in your child’s tuition fees.
Typically, you will pay your exam centre £150-220 GBP per qualification (not per examination). Remotely Invigilated iGCSEs are more expensive due to the ratio of invigilator to student. Fees vary from centre to centre, so it’s best to contact your exam centre of choice or check their website for the most accurate information.

All formal IGCSE examinations take place at the end of Year 11, and all formal A Level examinations take place at the end of Year 13. Students must complete these exams at an examination centre. All in-school assessments and mock exams are conducted online during class time.

We recommend you register with an exam centre by December of the year before your child’s exams. While this is before the set deadline for most exam centres, registering ahead of time can give you peace of mind and help you avoid late fees.

To bring Science Practicals to life, we use engaging online platforms like Focus on Science, Physics, and Chemistry as part of the curriculum. We also encourage hands-on learning at home, using everyday household items for experiments.

For KS5 students, we use an innovative program called Labster, which simulates a real science lab experience. Additionally, KS5 students have the exciting opportunity to attend a week-long residential stay to complete practicals in person. Please note that this residential option comes at an additional cost.

Most of our IGCSE and A Level qualifications involve two exams. However, some may only require one, while others might include three. Exam centres usually charge per qualification, so you won’t need to pay separate fees for each paper. That said, qualifications with spoken or practical exams might have different arrangements depending on your chosen centre.

If your child needs Special Consideration or Access Arrangements (such as extra time or using a laptop) for their exams, simply let your chosen exam centre know when booking. Each centre has its own process for organising these arrangements.

In some cases, your child may need an educational assessment to determine what support is appropriate, especially for conditions like dyslexia or other learning difficulties.

For students on the autism spectrum, or those with ADHD, mental health needs, or medical conditions, you may need to provide evidence from a specialist.

To help with this process, King’s InterHigh can provide a statement outlining your child’s usual way of working, which can support your request.

Yes, our students take mock exams and other informal assessments to ensure they are fully prepared for their real IGCSE and A Level exams. While mock exams are taken online during school time, they mimic the real exam, so our students are given a time limit to complete and submit their papers.

VAT charges explained

The UK Government has implemented a policy to charge VAT on independent schools taking effect from the 1st of January 2025. This VAT charge is payable by families who are based in, or access, King’s InterHigh from the UK. This change does not impact families who are based outside the UK and access King’s InterHigh from another country.

We understand the significant financial commitment you make in choosing our online school as well as how important it is to be able to financially plan. After careful review of the details of the legislation, we will support parents by absorbing costs ourselves, so that a slower phasing in of this unwelcome change reduces its financial impact on families.

For the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year (starting September 2024), Inspired Education Group will absorb much of the 20% VAT charge. For the Spring and Summer terms when the 20% VAT will now apply, we will only pass on 8.5% to families, taking up the difference ourselves.

To further support families with the financial implications of this change in government policy, for the 2025-2026 academic year (starting in September 2025) there will be no inflationary tuition fee increases, and that Inspired Education Group will continue to absorb costs to limit the increase to 8.5% for that academic year. Overall, this will mean we have phased in 17% of the 20% VAT cost over two years to avoid sudden increases for families and have not increased tuition fees.

King’s InterHigh is committed to offering competitive fees and accessible, high-quality independent education, along with the unique benefits of online learning. We are pleased that through careful cost control and the benefits of being part of Inspired, the leading global group of premium schools, we can significantly reduce the financial effect on families due to this change in UK VAT policy.

Technology integration fee

At Inspired, we are committed to investing in cutting-edge technology to enhance student learning and development, ensuring they are well-prepared for the future. This fee will contribute to the development of our Inspired AI tools and our investment in best-in-class learning technology.
