The timings of our school day depend on the time zone you choose. At King’s InterHigh, we offer timetabled lessons across a choice of three time zones to more closely meet your family’s needs:

  • Our UK time zone classes run Monday – Friday 8:20-4:00 GMT;
  • Our Middle Eastern time zone classes operate on Gulf Standard Time between 9:30-4:50 Monday – Friday;
  • And our Southeast Asia time zone classes run Monday – Friday 8:30 -5:30 GMT +7 (available for Key Stage 3 to 5).

The number of lessons each day varies depending on the Key Stage your child is joining. With our core package, you can generally expect around 3–4 hours a day for KS2, 4–5 hours a day for KS3 and KS4, and 3–4 hours a day for KS5.

We do not offer physical education at King’s InterHigh. However, we encourage our students to make the most out of their free periods within the school week if they want to exercise and play different sports. We also run various clubs and activities to encourage our students to stay active, from friendly walking competitions to in-person full-day adventures.

We offer timetabled live lessons across three time zones: the UK, Middle East, and Southeast Asia.

All our teachers are British-qualified and highly experienced, delivering lessons across these three time zones to ensure every student receives the same high-quality learning experience.

Most lessons take place between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., with regular breaks and free periods throughout the day. The exact schedule depends on the timetable you choose. A typical school day looks like this:

  • UK time zone: Runs Monday to Friday, 8:20 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. GMT.
  • Middle East time zone: Operates Monday to Friday, 9:10 a.m. – 4:50 p.m. Gulf Standard Time.
  • Southeast Asia time zone: Runs Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. GMT+7.

These options ensure flexibility for families across different regions, helping students thrive no matter where they are in the world.

King’s InterHigh follows the English curriculum, which is different to the education system used in Scotland. However, IGCSEs and A Levels are recognised by most schools in Scotland and across the world. We have also pioneered the world’s first online IB Diploma Programme, which offers a challenging and engaging curriculum with internationally recognised outcomes for Key Stage 5 students.

We always strive to ensure that each student receives a learning experience personalised to their needs, goals, and external commitments. Because we tailor our timetables to each student, we can’t provide a set timetable until your child is enrolled in classes. However, please feel free to reach out to our friendly Admissions team to learn more about what a typical day might look like for your child or ask any other timetabling questions. You can contact our team here.

We understand that students might need to adjust their timetable during the year, and we’ll do our best to accommodate these changes wherever possible. The first two course change requests are completely free, and after that, a small administration fee will apply.

Most subjects have three 40-minute lessons each week, adding up to around two hours per subject. The total number of lessons per week depends on how many subjects a student chooses. For example, if a student takes seven subjects, they’ll have about 21 lessons each week, or 4 to 5 lessons a day. On top of that, students also participate in tutor group sessions and can join optional exercise classes to stay active and have fun.

Course content differs between exam boards and sometimes between schools. As such, the content your child studies at King’s InterHigh may be different. However, rest assured that King’s InterHigh follows the same British Curriculum as any mainstream school in the UK, so your child will be equipped with all the knowledge and skills needed to succeed academically and become well-rounded.

There’s no minimum subject requirement, but we recommend that all King’s InterHigh students take at least the core package for their Key Stage:

  • Key Stage 2: 8 subjects
  • Key Stage 3: 9 subjects
  • Key Stage 4: 7 subjects
  • Key Stage 5: 3 subjects

This helps ensure students get a well-rounded learning experience tailored to their stage of education.

VAT charges explained

The UK Government has implemented a policy to charge VAT on independent schools taking effect from the 1st of January 2025. This VAT charge is payable by families who are based in, or access, King’s InterHigh from the UK. This change does not impact families who are based outside the UK and access King’s InterHigh from another country.

We understand the significant financial commitment you make in choosing our online school as well as how important it is to be able to financially plan. After careful review of the details of the legislation, we will support parents by absorbing costs ourselves, so that a slower phasing in of this unwelcome change reduces its financial impact on families.

For the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year (starting September 2024), Inspired Education Group will absorb much of the 20% VAT charge. For the Spring and Summer terms when the 20% VAT will now apply, we will only pass on 8.5% to families, taking up the difference ourselves.

To further support families with the financial implications of this change in government policy, for the 2025-2026 academic year (starting in September 2025) there will be no inflationary tuition fee increases, and that Inspired Education Group will continue to absorb costs to limit the increase to 8.5% for that academic year. Overall, this will mean we have phased in 17% of the 20% VAT cost over two years to avoid sudden increases for families and have not increased tuition fees.

King’s InterHigh is committed to offering competitive fees and accessible, high-quality independent education, along with the unique benefits of online learning. We are pleased that through careful cost control and the benefits of being part of Inspired, the leading global group of premium schools, we can significantly reduce the financial effect on families due to this change in UK VAT policy.

Technology integration fee

At Inspired, we are committed to investing in cutting-edge technology to enhance student learning and development, ensuring they are well-prepared for the future. This fee will contribute to the development of our Inspired AI tools and our investment in best-in-class learning technology.
