The Young Studio expands offering with accredited online British learning, in partnership with King’s InterHigh

By King's InterHigh

The Young Studio, a Dubai-based online provider of enrichment and academic programmes, is widening its offering with a full British curriculum delivered completely online in partnership with King’s InterHigh.

Two years ago, educationalist Jimi Kalyani set up The Young Studio with the mission of helping children and young people find their spark and uniqueness, motivating them to nurture it. The online centre has since been working to support its students as they develop their knowledge, communication skills, and language, with supplementary enrichment classes taking place after school and on weekends.

The Young Studio already has its own team of teachers and mentors who deliver online classes in Speech and Drama, English Enrichment, Creative Writing, IELTS Exam Prep, Mathematics, Chess, Contemporary Art, and Futuristic Skills Training. Parents drawn to the studio are typically professionals and business owners in search of high-quality educational opportunities that will help their children compete and succeed on the global stage.

Now, students at The Young Studio can also access a full British education as part of their learning. Recognising a need for affordable and high-quality international education, The Young Studio has partnered with King’s InterHigh to broaden its overall programme, completing their students’ personal and academic development.

The Young Studio’s learners access live, online classes from their homes in the U.A.E, each lesson taught by expert King’s InterHigh teachers. The students’ timetable operates on Gulf Standard Time, with classes taught between 8:30am and 4:30pm GST, Sunday to Thursday (*School week subject to change in accordance with the new working week in the U.A.E.)

In the Primary and Lower Secondary years, learners follow the English National Curriculum. In the final four Secondary years, they then study for the internationally recognised IGCSE and A Level programmes, accredited by reputable awarding bodies Edexcel and Cambridge International Examinations. These courses prepare students to become independent thinkers with a global perspective, and the qualifications they receive upon completing examinations are recognised and valued by all prestigious universities across the world.

Mr. Gareth Lucas-Howells, Head of Education Partnerships, King’s InterHigh, commented: “We are delighted to support The Young Studio to expand its offering to children and young people in the UAE. The partnership will allow us to deliver a world-class British international education to families alongside the enrichment programmes expertly delivered by The Young Studio.”

Jimi Kalyani, Founder of The Young Studio added: “Studying in the UK is every teen’s dream. When I learned that we can offer the experience and the quality of an authentic British education to anyone and everyone regardless of distance or borders, just a click away, I was thrilled and immediately thought of extending this opportunity for our TYS [The Young Studio] families in the UAE and other GCC [Gulf Cooperation Council] countries. I strongly believe the opportunity of partnership with King’s InterHigh will open doors for a lot of young minds who will get an international standard of learning and developing themselves holistically as well as grow as global citizens.”

VAT charges explained

The UK Government has implemented a policy to charge VAT on independent schools taking effect from the 1st of January 2025. This VAT charge is payable by families who are based in, or access, King’s InterHigh from the UK. This change does not impact families who are based outside the UK and access King’s InterHigh from another country.

We understand the significant financial commitment you make in choosing our online school as well as how important it is to be able to financially plan. After careful review of the details of the legislation, we will support parents by absorbing costs ourselves, so that a slower phasing in of this unwelcome change reduces its financial impact on families.

For the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year (starting September 2024), Inspired Education Group will absorb much of the 20% VAT charge. For the Spring and Summer terms when the 20% VAT will now apply, we will only pass on 8.5% to families, taking up the difference ourselves.

To further support families with the financial implications of this change in government policy, for the 2025-2026 academic year (starting in September 2025) there will be no inflationary tuition fee increases, and that Inspired Education Group will continue to absorb costs to limit the increase to 8.5% for that academic year. Overall, this will mean we have phased in 17% of the 20% VAT cost over two years to avoid sudden increases for families and have not increased tuition fees.

King’s InterHigh is committed to offering competitive fees and accessible, high-quality independent education, along with the unique benefits of online learning. We are pleased that through careful cost control and the benefits of being part of Inspired, the leading global group of premium schools, we can significantly reduce the financial effect on families due to this change in UK VAT policy.
