The UK Government’s Budget announcement has confirmed it will implement its policy of charging VAT on independent schools, and that the timing of this will be earlier than had been anticipated, taking effect from the 1st of January 2025. This VAT charge is relevant for families who are based in, or access, King’s InterHigh from the UK. This change does not impact families who are based outside the UK and access King’s InterHigh from another country.
We understand the significant financial commitment you make in choosing our online school as well as how important it is to be able to financially plan. After careful review of the details of the legislation, we will support parents by absorbing costs ourselves, so that a slower phasing in of this unwelcome change reduces its financial impact on families.
For the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year (starting September 2024), Inspired Education Group will absorb much of the 20% VAT charge. For the Spring and Summer terms when the 20% VAT will now apply, we will only pass on 8.5% to families, taking up the difference ourselves.
To further support families with the financial implications of this change in government policy, I can also confirm that for the 2025-2026 academic year (starting in September 2025) there will be no inflationary tuition fee increases, and that Inspired Education Group will continue to absorb costs to limit the increase to 8.5% for that academic year. Overall, this will mean we have phased in 17% of the 20% VAT cost over two years to avoid sudden increases for families and have not increased tuition fees.

If you prefer more flexibility, our rolling contract enables you to give notice at any point during the half-term you’ve paid for, ensuring you’re not locked in if your circumstances change.
When you enrol, the first payment is due before your child’s admission, and after that, payments can easily be made via bank transfer or through our Parent Hub. You’ll receive an invoice ahead of each payment due date, so you can stay on top of things without any surprises.
To compare costs between the annual and rolling contracts, simply use the calculator on our fees page and find the option that works best for your family.

Please be aware that the sibling discount is not applicable to our rolling contract.
If you would like to know about the fees related to enrolling multiple children, please contact a member of our team. They can provide you with accurate cost details tailored to your family’s needs.
Exam fees are not included in the tuition fee you pay to King’s InterHigh and must be paid directly to the exam centre. These fees vary from centre to centre, typically ranging from £150-200 per qualification.
Our team can assist you in locating an examination centre, or alternatively, your child can take exams at our approved exam centre in Abergavenny, Wales. Please be aware that the King’s InterHigh exam centre spaces are limited.
Additionally, our IGCSE students can take their Pearson Edexcel subjects online through our pilot program with Pearson, which offers online invigilation. You can find further details about taking exams at King’s InterHigh on our website.
