Assured Course Graduation 2021

By King's InterHigh

This year sees the first students from InterHigh graduate from our wide range of City & Guilds Assured Courses.

We are so proud of the standard of work that has been produced by pupils and we celebrated their efforts and successes on Friday 14th May, in the first ever Graduation event for Assured Course students.

There are 7 subjects currently available as two-year courses in KS4. They are:

Assured Courses are Project Based Learning courses that build on the critical, higher order, thinking skills and a range of interpersonal and social skills such as research and presentation, project development and time management.

The aim of each course is to build skills and confidence whilst promoting independent thought and research. In each course students gain transferable skills for future studies and higher education whilst building a portfolio of work that they can show to a future employer or to support an application to further study.

Although students are given the skills and guidance needed to complete each project, the responsibility for the development of ideas, reflection, and the building of their portfolio is completely theirs. Students have worked independently throughout their courses to produce work of the highest calibre across all subject areas through self-assessment and reflection leading to improvement.

Take a look at some of the amazing work students on our assured courses have been producing:

Year 11 Assured Art

Futurescapes: Reimagining the urban landscape through illustration.

Students must research various artists and artworks and create personal responses to this research using the theme ‘Futurescapes: reimagining the urban landscape through illustration’. Students produce a research presentation, essay and portfolio of experiments. Students will use their research, exploration, and analysis to then explore ideas for an individual and unique response to the theme by producing a final piece.

Year 11 Assured Photography

Reflections: Exploring light and reflection through lens-based media.

Students must research various photographers who use reflection in their work and create personal responses to this research using the theme, ‘Reflections: Exploring light and reflection through lens-based media’. Students will use their research, exploration, and analysis to then explore ideas for an individual and unique response to the theme by producing a final piece.

Year 11 Assured Computer Game Design

The Assured courses lend themselves to a more authentic assessment style, rather than testing memory, and give a true reflection of students’ capabilities. It is a style of learning that promotes skills that can be more readily transferred into the world of work and our students have performed at the highest level. Well done Year 11!

By King's InterHigh

King’s InterHigh is an independent British international online school. Offering Primary, Secondary and Sixth Form education, we cater to students from age 7 – 18 who are looking for a high quality British education delivered in a way that revolves around their lifestyle.

VAT charges explained

The UK Government has implemented a policy to charge VAT on independent schools taking effect from the 1st of January 2025. This VAT charge is payable by families who are based in, or access, King’s InterHigh from the UK. This change does not impact families who are based outside the UK and access King’s InterHigh from another country.

We understand the significant financial commitment you make in choosing our online school as well as how important it is to be able to financially plan. After careful review of the details of the legislation, we will support parents by absorbing costs ourselves, so that a slower phasing in of this unwelcome change reduces its financial impact on families.

For the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year (starting September 2024), Inspired Education Group will absorb much of the 20% VAT charge. For the Spring and Summer terms when the 20% VAT will now apply, we will only pass on 8.5% to families, taking up the difference ourselves.

To further support families with the financial implications of this change in government policy, for the 2025-2026 academic year (starting in September 2025) there will be no inflationary tuition fee increases, and that Inspired Education Group will continue to absorb costs to limit the increase to 8.5% for that academic year. Overall, this will mean we have phased in 17% of the 20% VAT cost over two years to avoid sudden increases for families and have not increased tuition fees.

King’s InterHigh is committed to offering competitive fees and accessible, high-quality independent education, along with the unique benefits of online learning. We are pleased that through careful cost control and the benefits of being part of Inspired, the leading global group of premium schools, we can significantly reduce the financial effect on families due to this change in UK VAT policy.
