Scaling new heights and building bonds on our adventure activity trip

By King's InterHigh

It was a weekend to remember for our King's InterHigh students as they gathered in Worcestershire for an adventure activity trip. Amidst the lush woods and excited chatter, our Secondary and Sixth Form students were ready to make memories to last a lifetime.

At King’s InterHigh, we bring students a school experience fully online. That includes plenty of ways to socialise and make friends, from dozens of virtual club options each term to community events like our art shows and food festivals.

But, on top of that, we also give our learners regular opportunities to meet their online classmates face-to-face. Each academic year, students can choose to join a range of in-person trips — like our annual activity weekend this March!

Boundless Outdoors, a popular outdoor activity centre in the UK, served as the perfect backdrop for our students to embrace new challenges, take on thrilling trials, and bond together off-screen.

From high and low ropes courses to ridge walking activities, our students got to build more than just their physical prowess. Outdoor trips like these are also a great opportunity to develop all-important life skills, from problem-solving to autonomy.

One challenge, for example, tasked students to guide each other through obstacles. To succeed, they had to communicate effectively, work as a team, and reach the goal together.

Activities like archery, meanwhile, are a test in resilience and independence. It’s not easy to hit the bullseye, but our learners gave the bows and arrows their all.

Exploring the countryside around them, our students even got to grow their understanding of the natural world and environmental survival. Just check out this team building a fire (under the watchful and helpful eye of teachers and staff, of course!).

As they climbed to dizzying heights and navigated complex obstacles, these young learners conquered their fears and pushed through difficulties to come out on top.

Between high-adrenaline activities like ziplining and archery, students and teachers shared stories together around the lunch and dinner tables. Our school is delighted to be home to a truly diverse community of students from all over the world, and moments like these are a wonderful opportunity to gain new perspectives and learn more about each other.

For many students, this weekend was more than just a school trip — it was a transformative experience.

King’s InterHigh welcomes numerous learners who struggle with concerns like social anxiety and have a hard time opening up in person or taking on new experiences on their own. We were immensely proud to see so many of these young people join the activity trip, and it was a pleasure to watch them step out of their comfort zones and into the warm camaraderie of new friends.

As the sun set on the final day at Boundless, our students were filled with a sense of accomplishment and connection. After building their courage and scaling new heights, everyone waved goodbye with a smile, memories to cherish, and so many new friends to bond with back in their online classes.

At King’s InterHigh, we know that school goes far beyond textbooks. Through in-person events around the world, we hope to empower our students to embrace life’s challenges in a way that will help them for years to come — all while building lifelong bonds with their classmates.

So, to all our intrepid adventurers who joined us on yet another incredible journey: thank you, and here’s to many more shared memories to come!

By King's InterHigh

King’s InterHigh is an independent British international online school. Offering Primary, Secondary and Sixth Form education, we cater to students from age 7 – 18 who are looking for a high quality British education delivered in a way that revolves around their lifestyle.

VAT charges explained

The UK Government has implemented a policy to charge VAT on independent schools taking effect from the 1st of January 2025. This VAT charge is payable by families who are based in, or access, King’s InterHigh from the UK. This change does not impact families who are based outside the UK and access King’s InterHigh from another country.

We understand the significant financial commitment you make in choosing our online school as well as how important it is to be able to financially plan. After careful review of the details of the legislation, we will support parents by absorbing costs ourselves, so that a slower phasing in of this unwelcome change reduces its financial impact on families.

For the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year (starting September 2024), Inspired Education Group will absorb much of the 20% VAT charge. For the Spring and Summer terms when the 20% VAT will now apply, we will only pass on 8.5% to families, taking up the difference ourselves.

To further support families with the financial implications of this change in government policy, for the 2025-2026 academic year (starting in September 2025) there will be no inflationary tuition fee increases, and that Inspired Education Group will continue to absorb costs to limit the increase to 8.5% for that academic year. Overall, this will mean we have phased in 17% of the 20% VAT cost over two years to avoid sudden increases for families and have not increased tuition fees.

King’s InterHigh is committed to offering competitive fees and accessible, high-quality independent education, along with the unique benefits of online learning. We are pleased that through careful cost control and the benefits of being part of Inspired, the leading global group of premium schools, we can significantly reduce the financial effect on families due to this change in UK VAT policy.
