Online college courses for school leavers and those dropping out of A Levels

Mainstream school or college education is not suitable to everyone. Many AS and A Level pupils, who have to move to a different secondary school or college for further education, decide to leave their courses early. This could be down to a variety of reasons, from the style of teaching to the range of courses available. If you are thinking of dropping out of A Levels looking for an alternative way of learning, then King’s InterHigh could be for you.

King's InterHigh online sixth form college

King’s InterHigh’s completely independent online Sixth Form College offers a range of online college courses for school leavers worldwide. You can take full-time or part-time AS or A Levels in a wide variety of subjects. Due to the flexible nature of King’s InterHigh, students at traditional schools or colleges limited by subject choice, can also take a part-time AS level with us combining it with their other studies. This is ideal if they are limited by choice at their traditional centre of learning.

How it works

Time-tabled lessons can be accessed anywhere where there is an internet connection. They are streamed live and taught in real-time online classrooms by our experienced teachers. Students can interact with the teachers and each other via text and message via their own personal control panel. Lessons are also recorded and archived so students can access them online 24/7, using them to aid revision or to prepare for lessons or project work. You can also use it to access our online library, common room, clubs and societies.

A good grounding for university

Our independent learning approach prepares students for life in higher education and on average we find that our students, go on to graduate with an upper second class degree or higher from university. This approach allows our pupils to progress rapidly freeing them up to pursue other interests with more energy.

Our British Curriculum, offering a wide range of Key Stage 3 subjects right through to IGCSE and A Levels, provides the perfect foundation for future studies. Our personalised learning teaching model allows pupils to make excellent progress in rapid time.

VAT charges explained

The UK Government has implemented a policy to charge VAT on independent schools taking effect from the 1st of January 2025. This VAT charge is payable by families who are based in, or access, King’s InterHigh from the UK. This change does not impact families who are based outside the UK and access King’s InterHigh from another country.

We understand the significant financial commitment you make in choosing our online school as well as how important it is to be able to financially plan. After careful review of the details of the legislation, we will support parents by absorbing costs ourselves, so that a slower phasing in of this unwelcome change reduces its financial impact on families.

For the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year (starting September 2024), Inspired Education Group will absorb much of the 20% VAT charge. For the Spring and Summer terms when the 20% VAT will now apply, we will only pass on 8.5% to families, taking up the difference ourselves.

To further support families with the financial implications of this change in government policy, for the 2025-2026 academic year (starting in September 2025) there will be no inflationary tuition fee increases, and that Inspired Education Group will continue to absorb costs to limit the increase to 8.5% for that academic year. Overall, this will mean we have phased in 17% of the 20% VAT cost over two years to avoid sudden increases for families and have not increased tuition fees.

King’s InterHigh is committed to offering competitive fees and accessible, high-quality independent education, along with the unique benefits of online learning. We are pleased that through careful cost control and the benefits of being part of Inspired, the leading global group of premium schools, we can significantly reduce the financial effect on families due to this change in UK VAT policy.
