I feel families and young learners should be able to make guided choices about taking advantage of the different ways of learning the world has to offer today.

"I feel families and young learners should be able to make guided choices about taking advantage of the different ways of learning the world has to offer today."

 What are your professional qualifications/accreditations?

PGCE, Masters, NPQSL

Why did you decide to go into teaching?

I’ve always felt that teaching was my calling, I enjoy watching students thrive and learn. There is nothing more rewarding then when watching that moment when it all makes sense to the student and they can successfully apply their learning.

What is it that you love about teaching?

Enabling students to academically achieve and reach their potential but rooted in a sense of pride at watching their hard work.

What was your teaching experience before joining King's InterHigh?

I have taught both in the UK and Middle East as a Senior Leader overseeing large remits to include assessment, teaching and learning and school improvement projects.

What inspired you to make the change to teaching at an online school?

I believe it is the way forward for many families and in many respects I feel families and young learners should be able to make guided choices about taking advantage of the different ways of learning the world has to offer today. Education is finally catching up to the IT skills employers are looking for and King’s InterHigh is at the cutting edge of offering these learning opportunities at all key stages.

How is teaching with King's InterHigh different to teaching at a bricks and mortar school?

In many ways it isn’t. we still offer the educational support, guidance and focus on attainment as any other school but with the flexibility, resource and personal approach that sets us apart by using online learning.

What is the best feature of King's InterHigh for you as a teacher?

The shared vision amongst students and staff for success rooted in the care that we have as a learning community.

How does the King's InterHigh online platform enrich lessons for both you and the students?

Technology allows us to access online platforms through research, writing skills and up to date use of learning tools. Communication is efficient and allows students to actively engage in lessons. Students never miss out as lessons are recorded and they are able to catch up so learning gaps are filled.

VAT charges explained

The UK Government has implemented a policy to charge VAT on independent schools taking effect from the 1st of January 2025. This VAT charge is payable by families who are based in, or access, King’s InterHigh from the UK. This change does not impact families who are based outside the UK and access King’s InterHigh from another country.

We understand the significant financial commitment you make in choosing our online school as well as how important it is to be able to financially plan. After careful review of the details of the legislation, we will support parents by absorbing costs ourselves, so that a slower phasing in of this unwelcome change reduces its financial impact on families.

For the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year (starting September 2024), Inspired Education Group will absorb much of the 20% VAT charge. For the Spring and Summer terms when the 20% VAT will now apply, we will only pass on 8.5% to families, taking up the difference ourselves.

To further support families with the financial implications of this change in government policy, for the 2025-2026 academic year (starting in September 2025) there will be no inflationary tuition fee increases, and that Inspired Education Group will continue to absorb costs to limit the increase to 8.5% for that academic year. Overall, this will mean we have phased in 17% of the 20% VAT cost over two years to avoid sudden increases for families and have not increased tuition fees.

King’s InterHigh is committed to offering competitive fees and accessible, high-quality independent education, along with the unique benefits of online learning. We are pleased that through careful cost control and the benefits of being part of Inspired, the leading global group of premium schools, we can significantly reduce the financial effect on families due to this change in UK VAT policy.
