Darcey Harry | Golfer

By King's InterHigh

Darcey Harry is a talented young golfer who competes all over the world in tournaments. Studying at King's InterHigh gives her the flexibility to put in the extra hours she needs on the golf course as she works towards her goal of becoming a professional golfer.

"This school is perfect for any athlete. I would recommend this online school to anyone involved in golf. The teachers are superb and help you with your studies. Lesson times fit perfectly with my daily golf routine and I get a lot more time to train and I’m improving rapidly."

Fitting in your studies around your sporting career must be challenging, why did you join King's InterHigh and how does it compare to your previous educational experiences?

King’s InterHigh fits perfectly into my training schedule as I have mainly morning lessons. I then have the rest of the day to play golf, whereas in a physical school I did not get the opportunity to play for the hours I need to put in to become a top player.

You can study at King's InterHigh wherever there’s an internet connection, where is the most unusual place you’ve had a live lesson?

I’ve taken live lessons at King’s InterHigh all around the world. I have had many lessons in an airport or car. I would never have thought it was possible to do live lessons in this way before studying at King’s InterHigh.

Can you describe why King's InterHigh is a good option for young golfers? Would you recommend it to your peers and if so why?

King’s InterHigh is great. I would recommend this online school to anyone involved in golf. The teachers are superb and help you with your studies. Lesson times fit perfectly with my daily golf routine and I get a lot more time to train and I’m improving rapidly. I take work away with me whilst at a tournament, so I really do not miss a lesson. This school is perfect for any athlete.

What’s your ambition in the sport, long term and short term? What are your targets for the next few years?

My goal for next year is to get into the Great Britain and Ireland Under 16s team for the Junior Vaglino Trophy against the continent of Europe. My long-term goal is to graduate from King’s InterHigh with top grades to get into a top US college where I can play golf and then from there gain my tour card.

VAT charges explained

The UK Government has implemented a policy to charge VAT on independent schools taking effect from the 1st of January 2025. This VAT charge is payable by families who are based in, or access, King’s InterHigh from the UK. This change does not impact families who are based outside the UK and access King’s InterHigh from another country.

We understand the significant financial commitment you make in choosing our online school as well as how important it is to be able to financially plan. After careful review of the details of the legislation, we will support parents by absorbing costs ourselves, so that a slower phasing in of this unwelcome change reduces its financial impact on families.

For the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year (starting September 2024), Inspired Education Group will absorb much of the 20% VAT charge. For the Spring and Summer terms when the 20% VAT will now apply, we will only pass on 8.5% to families, taking up the difference ourselves.

To further support families with the financial implications of this change in government policy, for the 2025-2026 academic year (starting in September 2025) there will be no inflationary tuition fee increases, and that Inspired Education Group will continue to absorb costs to limit the increase to 8.5% for that academic year. Overall, this will mean we have phased in 17% of the 20% VAT cost over two years to avoid sudden increases for families and have not increased tuition fees.

King’s InterHigh is committed to offering competitive fees and accessible, high-quality independent education, along with the unique benefits of online learning. We are pleased that through careful cost control and the benefits of being part of Inspired, the leading global group of premium schools, we can significantly reduce the financial effect on families due to this change in UK VAT policy.
